Poland go up against Portugal in the Euro 2016 quarter-finals on Thursday night in Marseille

Lewandowski ended as top goalscorer in Euro 2016 qualifying with 13 ‒ two more than Zlatan Ibrahimovic for Sweden.

The former Paris Saint-Germain striker failed to score for Sweden at Euro 2016 and they were knocked out. If Lewandowski does not turn it on against Portugal, then they could be out too. 

It's no secret that Poland's manager, players and supporters are waiting for Lewandowski to get going at the European Championship.

'We don't have a single problem with the fact Robert hasn't scored a goal,' Nawalka said in his defence.

They didn't in the group stage but, now that a spot in the semi-finals is up for grabs, Poland know they need their talisman to start scoring.  

Three goals in total this tournament ‒ as many as Gareth Bale for Wales, Antoine Griezmann for France and Alvaro Morata for Spain ‒ yet Poland have still made it to this stage.

Lewandowski has yet to find his shooting boots but this is a striker who can seemingly turn it on at any time, and that's what he needs to prove at Euro 2016.

For Munich last season, his goals-per-game average was 1.02. He averaged 4.24 shots per 90 minutes, with 2.51 of those on target, and so he got a goal every 89 minutes. 

For Poland, he has managed just 1.15 shots per game and only 0.46 on target. 

Service could be an issue, with Lewandowski himself creating the chances rather than them being created for him.

For Munich, he created 0.75 chances per 90 minutes last season. For Poland, he has created 1.38 at Euro 2016.

Fulham may have to reconsider asking price for Ross McCormack

SIMON JONES: Fulham may be forced to reconsider their asking price for Ross McCormack as his £12million escape clause expires on Friday.

Manager Slavisa Jokanovic is eager to rebuild his squad to give them a fighting chance of promotion. However, key to that is the future of top goalscorer McCormack.

Jokanovic needs funds to bring in other players he wants and sacrificing McCormack can allow him to strengthen the squad elsewhere.

However, they may struggle to strike a deal for the 29-year-old for their desired £12m.

Newcastle, Aston Villa, Norwich City, Hull City and Sheffield Wednesday all have an interest in McCormack but have been deterred by the clause figure so far. That lapses after July 1 which will open the door for them to negotiate and try to sign the Scotland international for a lesser figure. 

Fulham had wanted Dwight Gayle, who is signing for Newcastle for £10m, and Serbia international midfielder Radosav Petrovic from Kiev, who has since signed for Sporting Lisbon.

They have already lost Moussa Dembele to Celtic for just £450,000 with his former club Paris St Germain also taking a cut of the fee.

McCormack scored 23 goals last season, despite missing part of the campaign following the collapse of his move to Middlesbrough, and remains one of the most prolific strikers in the division.

DANIEL SANDFORD: Shanghai SIPG have completed the £46.5m signing of striker Hulk from Zenit St Petersburg to make him the most expensive signing in Asian football.

Mourinho adds another friendly to pre-season schedule

Jose Mourinho has added another match to Manchester United's pre-season fixture list – with the club set to take on old foes Galatasaray in Zlatan Ibrahimovic's homeland.

The Portuguese has pencilled in a friendly against the Turkish giants in Sweden on July 30 with United expected to confirm further details on Thursday.

Manchester City bolster attack by signing Mooy

SIMON JONES: Manchester City have signed Australia international Aaron Mooy from sister club Melbourne City.

The 25-year-old has agreed a three-year deal at the Etihad and is likely to be allowed out on loan.
